The Guardian: Tanzania villagers maul hyena that broke into hospital
In Tanzania, the inhabitants of one of the villages dealt with a hyena that climbed into the hospital at night. About it informs Tanzanian newspaper The Guardian.
The incident took place in the Lindi area on 11 July. The predator entered the territory of a medical institution near the village of Nandagala at night, frightening patients and staff. Hospital guard Ibrahim Issaya said a hyena ran through the gate when it was opened to let the ambulance out. “The hyena took advantage of this moment to break into the building. I ran there because people started calling for help. Then other citizens attacked the animal and started beating it,” the man recalls.
A villager named Seifu Khamis said that he was awakened by screams and ran to see what was the matter. “I saw a hyena running straight at me, and immediately shot an arrow into it, and then added a couple more. Then the animal fell and was torn to pieces by a crowd armed with various traditional weapons, machetes, stones, and so on,” he said.
