The Egyptian Deputy Minister of Education, Reda Hegazy, said in statements to “Sky News Arabia” that the Ministry of Education signed, on Wednesday, a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Space Agency, with the aim of “spreading awareness of space sciences among Egyptian school students.”
Hegazy stressed that “the Egyptian Space Agency is one of the giant national projects in the country,” adding: “The role of the Ministry of Education is to spread awareness of what (the agency) is doing among students, so that there is affiliation and loyalty to the country and their passion for studying space science is achieved. future”.
He explained that the signed protocol is a cooperation between the Egyptian Space Agency and the Ministry of Education, with the aim of “spreading awareness among students and training them to study what is happening in space, by deploying 100 educational satellites on schools in various governorates of Egypt.”
These satellites contain all the components of a real satellite, so that the student learns and is trained to operate everything related to the real satellite, as well as how to build, launch and control it into space, and its uses..
The Egyptian Deputy Minister of Education confirmed that “the cooperation has already resulted in the delivery of 3 educational satellites from the Egyptian Space Agency to 3 schools, the science schools for outstanding students in Cairo, Giza and Obour.”
He pointed out that “immediately, the satellites will be delivered to the rest of the government schools in Egypt, successively, and in all governorates.”.
Hegazy went on to say that training workshops and field visits are being held by space agency experts to schools, to train teachers and students, in preparation for handing over educational satellites to them.
A competitive competition will be held between all schools in Egypt on space sciences, and how to operate satellites, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, to discover talented students in this field and take care of them since childhood..
Hegazy stressed that this experiment “targets secondary school students in the first place, to create a passion for them to study space science before joining universities.”.
He stressed that the Egyptian Space Agency has already prepared educational satellites, and within a few weeks they will have been distributed to schools in various governorates.
