According to human rights sources who spoke to “Sky News Arabia”, the court in western Sana’a, which is under the control of the Houthi coup militia – the Iranian arm in Yemen – has sentenced two of Intisar Al-Hammadi’s companions to five years in prison, and their fourth colleague to a full year.
On October 25, the court reserved the case of the kidnapped Yemeni artist, Intisar Al Hammadi and her companions, to a session on Sunday, November 7.
The Houthi court’s decision came after a controversial mock trial, and more than 9 months after the abduction of Al-Hammadi and her companions, who was kidnapped and arbitrarily arrested when she was on her way with two colleagues and a friend to a photo session, on February 20.
Al-Hammadi faced a series of moral charges leveled against her by the Houthi militia, and the accused lacked a fair public trial, according to observers.
In a previous statement, Human Rights Watch said that the Houthi authorities are unfairly prosecuting Al-Hammadi Intisar.
