NASA astronauts on the International Space Station have managed to harvest chili peppers in recent days. The Plant Habitat-04 (PH-04) experiment, which began in July, has resulted in the production of some Hatch chili peppers, originally from New Mexico. The seeds traveled to space aboard Space X’s 22 ship during the summer and were carefully treated in the laboratory aboard the Station. The intention of this exercise is to solve the challenge of feeding astronauts in orbit, mainly, facing the Artemis space missions – bound for the Moon – and those scheduled to Mars in the coming decades.
