A front coming from the Atlantic brings rain to part of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands this Sunday and Three Kings Day

A front coming from the Atlantic will leave rainfall on the Peninsula this Sunday that will spread from west to east during the day, except in the extreme east and the Balearic Islands, where it is not expected.

According to the updated prediction for this Saturday State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) For the Three Kings Bridge, it is not ruled out that the showers will be locally strong and accompanied by storms and small hail, with greater probability at the end of the day in western Andalusia. In addition, rainfall is expected to be persistent in western Galicia and the Central system.

In parallel, dense morning fogs may form in the depressions of the northeast. Temperatures will continue to rise, especially the minimum temperatures, with light frosts restricted to the Iberian system and the Pyrenees. The winds from the south and southwest will also intensify, with widespread strong gusts, except in the extreme east, and very strong in Galicia, the Cantabrian mountain range, northern Iberia and the western Pyrenees, without ruling them out also in areas of the west of the Northern plateau.

In the Canary Islands, the haze will tend to subside this Sunday as the end of the front reaches the northwest of the Archipelago, with probable weak rainfall on La Palma during the afternoon, rising temperatures and predominantly southerly winds.

As for Monday, January 6, Aemet predicts that there will be widespread showers in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, less likely in the eastern end of the peninsula, tending to subside and become clear during the afternoon.

They are likely to be locally strong during the morning in western Andalusia and the Strait area, where they will be accompanied by storms and small hail. During the first hours, persistent rainfall will continue in western Galicia and the snow level will drop to around 1,000 – 1,400 meters, although without expecting significant accumulations.

As for temperatures, the beginning of the week will bring a general decrease, especially in the minimum temperatures, which could be reached at the end of the day, with the exception of the Mediterranean and Balearic coasts.

Wind will blow from the southwest with very strong gusts in the Cantabrian, Iberian and western Pyrenees mountain ranges, and from the strong west on the Cantabrian coasts, generally rolling to the west and subsiding in the afternoon, except in the eastern end of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, where it is strong gusts of wind and north winds are likely to occur at the end of the day, as well as west winds in Alborán. In the Canary Islands, it is likely that the remains of the front will continue leaving cloudy skies or with intervals and scattered showers, with a predominance of winds from the north and east.
