Specialists of the Moscow Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection will be looking for a fox, which was spotted on Red Square earlier on Monday. Most likely, it came from Zaryadye Park, said Sergei Burmistrov, head of the biodiversity conservation department of the capital’s department of nature management and environmental protection, on October 18.
He noted that foxes are often seen in this park. “Perhaps she was led to Red Square by simple curiosity. Touched beauty, so to speak. In general, urban foxes have ceased to be afraid of people, and their enemies – stray dogs – are almost gone. Now foxes live in almost all parks in the city, she could have settled in Zaryadye. Even if we found a fox and it does not need help, then most likely we will not do anything with it, ”Burmistrov told the city news agency“Moscow“.
He noted that urban space has become normal for foxes. Animals do not pose a threat to humans. Foxes do not attack people, and every year they are vaccinated against rabies in the capital.
At the same time, Burmistrov stressed that it is not recommended to run after foxes, try to stroke and feed them. He added that the young grow up in the fall, they are curious and go everywhere. “The city has become a natural habitat for foxes. It is easier to feed here, ”said the specialist.
Earlier on Monday, surveillance cameras on the territory of the Intercession Cathedral (St. Basil’s Cathedral) in Moscow filmed a fox. The animal was on the territory of the cathedral for several minutes, writes “Moscow 24“. Such an incident occurred for the first time during the entire observation period.
