The protest has gathered 25,000 people, according to Government Delegation, and 7,000, according to the Local Police, figures much lower than the previous marches called against the management of the DANA of the Autonomic Government
A new demonstration, the fourth since the DANA of October 29, has returned to claim this Saturday in the center of Valencia the resignation of the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, and of the Autonomous Government for its “negligence” in the management of the management of the Catastrophe that left 224 dead, three missing and multimillionable material damage in a razed province.
The protest – marked by the rain – has gathered approximately 25,000 people, according to the data provided by the Government delegation in the Valencian Community, after three months of the flood. According to the local police records, which had not offered data in the previous ones, there have been 7,000 protesters. Figures much lower than the marches convened with the same motto- ‘Sleep resignation. The demonstrations of November 9, on November 30 and December 29 managed to gather 130,000, 100,000 and 80,000 protesters, respectively.
Although officially it had not been convened by any political party, among the 152 organizations that have adhered to that text are formations such as Compromís or Podemos. In addition, in the march it has been possible to see some outstanding members of the PSPV-PSOE, who has left the agenda of the Autonomous Congress that celebrates this weekend in the city-and in which it has re-elected Minister Diana Morant as her leader- so that militants could approach the protest.
The mobilization, headed by the Nova Muixeranga de Algemesí, has started from the town hall square after six in the afternoon and has ended without incident a little more than an hour later in that of the Virgin, next to the Palau de la Generalitat, cordoned off by The National Police. The umbrellas have not left much space for banners, among which slogans could be read such as “the president, to Picassent”, “Mazon returns to the song” or “some of the comilona and me without dining room.”
The main banner was carried by six affected and relatives of victims of the tragedy. Among them was Aitana Martínez, who has asked for “justice and responsibilities.” «They have not contacted us and we are abandoned. They continue to laugh at us, ”he said. “They have left me dead in life,” said Dolores Ruiz, who was carrying a photo of her husband and two children, who died in the flood.
Beyond demanding political responsibilities and the ex officio initiation of a judicial procedure that purms the legal ones, in the manifesto, the organizers have charged against the “lies and manipulations” of the Generalitat. They have denounced the lack of housing for the victims, while there are “thousands of tourist or empty floors” of banks, vulture funds or sareb and that the ERTE do not cover the entire salary.
Despite the death of two operators in Massassa and Benetússer, they criticize, companies that “could in danger” the life of their workers have not been investigated. In addition, they have lamented that the “delay” of the “totally insufficient” aid to the cultural sector.
In the same way, they have criticized the “chaos” in health or in public transport, the “neglect” of the damaged educational centers, which has been allowed to build in flooding areas for years despite the danger and “lack of transparency” of Institutions. «There is enough propaganda and exchange of accusations without assuming responsibilities. The reconstruction cannot be made with lies and backs to the affected people, ”they have indicated to read the manifesto. It was the only reference, although veiled, to the Government of Pedro Sánchez.
At the end, the protesters have made a minute of silence and later have sounded the audio of the Civil Protection alarm that was late for many that fateful afternoon of October 29.
