A fire in the Cuatro Torres tunnel forces the Caleido shopping center to be evacuated

A fire in a transformation center in the Cuatro Torres tunnel, located on Paseo de la Castellana, has forced access to the aforementioned underpass to be cut off and the Caleido shopping center to be evacuated.

A total of six fire crews from the Madrid City Council and two command cars worked to extinguish the fire, which originated tonight, around 9:30 p.m., at a point with electrical panels. By the end of the day this was already under control. According to Emergencies Madrid, no injuries have been reported.

In the Four Towers business park

The tunnel, which remained closed at midnight due to the smoke that began to come out of it, is located in the large Four Towers business park, built on the grounds of the former Real Madrid Sports City. The four towers are the Foster Tower, the PwC Tower (formerly Sacyr Vallehermoso), the Crystal Tower and the Emperador Castellana Tower, formerly known as the Espacio Tower. Next to them rises a fifth building, Caleido, which was inaugurated in 2021.

Caleido, evacuated tonight due to the smoke caused by two premises, began its construction in 2017. It has a height of 181 meters, which is divided into two spaces: a base of 20 meters and four floors and a tower of 161 meters and 36 floors.
