Marisa González, the daughter of one of those affected, points out that the fire devoured all the cut flowers that were inside these devices and that people “now have to find another place to carry out their work.”
An industrial warehouse belonging to the Canaraflor cut flower cooperative, located in the Canara ceheginera district, was practically burned to the ground after a fire broke out late on Friday night. As reported by the 112 Emergency Coordination Center of the Region of Murcia and sources consulted by LA VERDAD, the fire did not leave anyone injured, although serious material damage was lamented.
Numerous cold stores, inside which was the cut flower with which the more than 100 members of this cooperative work, ended up burned by the flames. “It is a real drama for all the families who work here and who now see how they have to find a place to carry out their work,” said Marisa González, a local resident.
Units of the Cehegín Local Police and, from Caravaca, members of the Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium (CEIS) traveled to the scene of the events, who had to, at first, sectorize the fire to not affect neighboring facilities. After notifying more troops, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after four in the morning.
The CEIS agents were only able to save the offices and some materials, such as papers and computers, from inside the ship. The work of more than a hundred people was devoured by fire, which is a serious blow to the economy of all of them. “You have to look for alternatives to be able to take your products until all the damage can be repaired,” said Marisa González.
