A Madrid court has ordered the imprisonment of French footballer Lucas Hernández, a Bayern Munich player and trained in the Atlético de Madrid youth academy, for being a repeat offender in crimes related to sexist violence, as reported in a press release by the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM). The footballer had requested the suspension of the sentence issued in 2019, which decreed his entry into prison for skipping the restraining order of his partner, but the court has rejected it. The events date back to 2017, when he went on a trip with his partner despite the 500-meter distance order.
Hernández was sentenced to six months in prison for breaking the estrangement on his sentimental partner four years ago, with whom he went on a honeymoon despite the fact that both had separate measures of distancing themselves from the other for a previous conviction for crimes of abuse in the family environment. The arrest occurred in June 2017 after landing in terminal T-4 of the Madrid Barajas airport, coming from the Bahamas. The woman was identified but not detained, according to the daily AS, since the court had not yet notified her of the restraining order.
Both decided to resume their relationship after a strong argument they had in February of that year and which led to the arrest of the player, then Atlético de Madrid, after a fight with his girlfriend. The two were sentenced to 31 days of work for the benefit of the community as perpetrators of a crime of mistreatment in the family.
The player was arrested at passport control and remained in the cells of the Madrid airport, until he was transferred to the Violence Against Women Court number 3 in Madrid. The magistrate released the player after taking a statement.
In 2019, the sentence was handed down, condemning Hernández to half a year in prison as the perpetrator responsible for a crime of violation of the sentence of article 468.2 of the Penal Code. This Wednesday, the Criminal Court No. 32 of Madrid has denied the suspension that the player had requested and has required him to go to court on October 19 to transfer the requirement of voluntary admission to prison for the 25-year-old player. years, within the non-extendable period of 10 days from that moment. The TSJM informs that the execution of the sentence has been appealed before the Provincial Court of Madrid.
“The Criminal Court of enforceability understands that in this case the legal requirements to grant Lucas Françoise BH the benefit of suspension of the sentence do not meet, given that he is not a primary offender, since there is a final sentence, dated 21- 3-2017, of the Criminal Court No. 35 of Madrid for the crime of injuries in the field of gender violence and another sentence, also final, also for a crime of injuries in the field of gender violence, of the Criminal Court No. 5 of Móstoles ”, adds the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid in its press release.
Hernández signed for the team German in summer 2019 for around € 80 million. As explained by the newspaper AS, Bayern Munich was unaware of this case. He also plays for the French national team, with which he won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the Nations Cup last Sunday.
