For this reason, what happened with Emanuel Isac Celedon, who was a CBP border agent and pleaded guilty in two federal cases last Monday, according to information from the Southern District of Texas Attorney's Office cited by NBCNews. The man worked at the Juárez-Lincoln port of entry in Laredo and it was found that he committed crimes related to the smuggling people into the United States and accepting bribes of drug trafficking.
After the corresponding investigation, it was found that between September and November, Celedon let people pass at least nine times through the lane in his charge without any type of control. In addition to that, he alerted smugglers about which lane they had been assigned to facilitate the entry of undocumented immigrants into the United States.
The agent who allowed undocumented immigrants to enter the United States was convicted of accepting bribes
The second case has to do with the fact that Celedon accepted US$6,000 as a bribe to let in a vehicle that he believed had kilos of cocaine inside. This was discovered in an undercover operation in which he was made to believe that he was dealing with drug traffickers who were looking to bring in drugs from Mexico.
