Investigators opened a criminal case under the article on causing death by negligence after the death of three people during flooding in the Tuapse district of the Krasnodar Territory. On July 6, journalists were informed about this in the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (SU of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation) for the region.
The case on the death of three people, including a minor, was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
“According to the investigation, in the late evening of July 5, 2021, as a result of heavy rainfall and flooding of rivers on the highway near the village of Dzhubga, a car was washed off the road, the car turned over, a 36-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter were killed. The body of a 71-year-old man was also found as a result of the tide of water in his house, located on Central Street in the village of Gorskoy, ”- reported in the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Krasnodar Territory.

Forensic medical examinations were ordered by the investigators. In addition, during the investigation, the work of the persons responsible for informing the population about worsening weather conditions and the possibility of flooding of settlements will be checked.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the headquarters of the region reported that 760 households were flooded in the Tuapse region. The affected homes are located in the villages of Moldovanka, Defanovka, Gorsky and Dzhubga. Also, flooding of households was registered in the villages of Lermontovo and Tenginka.
An emergency regime was introduced in six municipalities of the region – Slavyansky, Goryachy Klyuch, Sochi, Seversky, Gelendzhik.
On July 4, a downpour with a hurricane struck Sochi. Local authorities issued a storm warning. It was reported that one person was killed and two others were injured as a result of falling trees due to strong gusts of wind.
The Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, said that at present there is no threat to the lives of people in Sochi, but the city authorities must be prepared for any development of events.
