A travel blogger visited Chukotka and talked about abandoned villages in this region. He shared his story on his personal blog called TravelManiac on the Zen platform.
According to the author of the publication, it was not possible to preserve the heritage of past eras in Chukotka, and restoration is expensive.

“So entire villages are gaping with empty windows and collapsed roofs, some of which even housed 1,000 or more people. Today – without a single inhabitant, abandoned in a hurry, as if during the invasion of some enemy or natural disaster,” the Russian described what he saw with these phrases.
The traveler noted that when looking at this “deserted silence” he was taken aback.
“After all, behind every house, behind every window, behind every step, gazebo or bench near the house is someone’s life <...> People abandoned everything and simply ran away, while there was at least some money left and planes were still flying,” he explained .
Earlier, the same travel blogger emphasized that in places like Chukotka, life is radically different from what is usual for most Russians. In particular, prices for eggs there can reach up to 400 rubles per dozen.
