Without saying a word, without knowing them at all, in the street at twenty past one in the morning. A 17-year-old boy has been seriously injured this Saturday when he received two stab wounds with a knife in the Madrid district of Usera, spokesmen for the National Police and Madrid Emergencies have reported. One of them has reached his heart.
The aggression has occurred at number 50 of Antonio Salvador street, parallel to Marcelo Usera, the main axis of the district. The victim, Spanish, was walking down the street with a friend, 16 years old and also Spanish. According to what the friend told the police, they were going “to buy candy” at a nearby badulaque, on that same street.
Suddenly, they have been approached by a group of six or seven young people whom they claim to know nothing about and, without saying a word, they have begun to savagely attack them. The 16-year-old boy has received several blows, while the 17-year-old had the worst part. He received two stab wounds, one in the clavicle and another in the chest, at the level of the heart.
When the agents arrived, the young man was bleeding profusely. Shortly after, the toilets of the Samur have come, who have found him lying on the sidewalk and unconscious. In a hurry, they have intubated him, stabilized him and sent him to the October 12 hospital in a very serious condition. The boy had “a stab wound in the center of the chest that has reached his heart, he had a spill around it,” explains an Emergency spokeswoman.
On the way, the toilets have called the hospital to have an operating room prepared. In a few minutes they were there and the young man went directly into the operating room. The police investigate what happened and do not rule out any hypothesis, including the possible relationship of the event with youth gangs.

The phenomenon of violence between youth gangs is disturbing in Madrid. Although the Police rule out that the number of members or aggressions has increased, it is concerned about the growing use of machetes due to the injuries it causes, so much so that the Interior is looking for a way to ban them. In this case, due to the appearance of the wounds, it was not a machete, but a knife or similar, although there was no trace of it in the area. “The agents have not seized any weapons,” notes the police spokeswoman.
The researchers also highlight that those involved in the brawls are getting younger and the use of social networks to provoke each other, date and brag about their crimes. It is estimated that the different gangs in Madrid add between 350 and 450 active members, for the most part, Spanish kids of Latin or Maghreb origin, but not only, which is why we no longer speak of Latin gangs but of youth gangs. The most important are the Dominican Don’t Play (DDP) and the Trinidadians. Each one has its jargon, its codes and its symbols. For example, a green heart identifies the Trinidadians and a black heart identifies the DDP.
February saw a bloody weekend in Madrid, with six clashes between members of rival gangs leaving two dead and at least seven injured. Two weeks later, the police arrested 19 members of these violent groups allegedly involved in three of the attacks, none of them fatal. One of the deceased was called Jaime. He was 15 years old and died of a machete blow in Atocha. The other, Diego, 25, who lost his life in Usera at the hands of five DDPs, who have already been arrested.
