Colombian Camila Osorio eliminated top seed Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals of the Monterrey Open with partials of 1-6, 7-5 and 7-6 and will face the Spanish Nuria Párrizas in the semifinal.
In the first set, the Ukrainian broke in the fourth and sixth games thanks to her precision from the back of the court and held serve in the fifth. Osorio left several returns in the net that cost him to lose the sleeve 6-1.
At the end of the sleeve, the Colombian, fifth favorite, presented discomfort in her right forearm. The pain in her arm persisted in Osorio’s forehand at the start of the second set, despite this, the 44th in the world ranking, held parity until 5-5.
