San Ignacio, Sinaloa.- Nearly six hours of dirt road divides Counterstake from the municipal seat, which was shortened by an hour and a half, thanks to the construction of the road that will connect Tayoltita with San Ignacio.
Yesterday there were 20 people from that town and San Vicente with residence in that place, who went to process their INE credential, since to date 32 families have returned who had had to leave due to lack of employment.
Homecoming
The reason for his return, pointed out the Mining delegate in San Ignacio, Nicolasa Barraza Córdovait is because extraction work will resume soon in this place, which stopped working 23 years ago because the distance of the vein was very long, so the mining company moved to Tayoltita, Durango, where It was the majority of the workers.
This caused Contraestaca to be abandoned after 25 years of mining exploitation work, since the people who returned home every weekend were counted.
Barraza Córdova pointed out that having their INE is very important so that they can manage support, since these credentials were domiciled in Tayoltita and Mazatlán.
He added that during a visit he made to this place for work reasons, the inhabitants expressed their desire to move to the capital to process their identification, but that they lacked the financial resources to do so.
“I immediately spoke with Mayor Octavio Bastidas Manjarrez, who gave me all the support so that these people were brought to San Ignacio and carried out their procedure, something that I appreciate and they appreciate greatly,” he pointed.
Memories
Felipe Alvarado García, originally from that place, said he remembers the boom years, when the mine had at least 1,200 workers, there were at least 60 homes and several camps for the miners. There was a federal school and a clinic with various services, all provided by the company.
Now, he said, the visit of the Health Caravans is more necessary, since they have not attended for a year, in addition to the fact that the students have not studied since the beginning of the pandemic, because there, doing it online is very difficult, because of the lack of internet.
roads in good condition
The mining official highlighted the importance of keeping the road in good condition, which was managed and carried out by the Tayoltita mining company, so that people can leave more easily and quickly in case of illness or to stock their merchandise.
“We are looking for improvements, because it is expected that more families will continue to arrive,” Barraza Cordova said.
In addition, he indicated that a stretcher and a first-aid kit are needed to attend to an emergency.
The families said that they had good hopes in the mining jobs and that at least things are not like before, when there was a great boom, but at least that they guarantee sources of employment for the locals.
