The international union of international football players (FIFPro) mourned the death of the first two Ukrainian players, Vitalii Sapylo, 21, and Dmytro Martynenko25, as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Our thoughts are with the families, friends and teammates of the two young Ukrainian players Vitalii Sapylo and Dmytro Martynenko, the first two football losses reported in this war. Rest in peace,” the union chaired by David signed on social media. Aganzo, president of the Association of Spanish Soccer Players (AFE).
Both soccer players from non-professional categories, Vitalii Sapylo died in Kiev when facing the entry of Russian troops into the Ukrainian capital and Dmytro Martynenko died with his mother after a bomb hit his home.
FIFPRO joined the sports organizations that demanded the suspension of the Russian Football Federation and asked for support to evacuate innocent people caught in the middle of the war, started by the entry of the Russian army into the territory of Ukraine on February 24.
