The memory of the Al Gaffal race, which was launched in 1991, preserves that the first and second editions in 1991 and 1992 witnessed a competition in the 43-foot local sailing boat category, before the third edition race in 1993 witnessed the establishment of a joint race for the first two categories of local sailing boats 43 feet, and the second larger size 60 sailing ships Going forward, crowning the champions of each category separately.
The great success of the experience of local sailing ships 60 feet in the third edition of the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race in 1993 and the ability of those (bearings) to withstand the waves of the Arabian Gulf prompted a decision to adopt the racing category in the fourth edition in 1994 to continue after that in the event, which was witnessed in the month of Last June, the 30th edition was held.
