“This is the first tranche of what we are prepared to impose,” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a speech to Parliament.
Speaking of the individuals who were sanctioned, Johnson added, “Any assets they have in the UK will be frozen, and the individuals concerned will be banned from traveling to Britain.”
Timchenko is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Johnson said the sanctions also included the assets of Russia’s ISBK banks, the Bank of Russia, the Black Sea Development Bank and the assets of Genbank.
