The end of Spider-Man: No Way Home it’s emotional, and it positions the arachnid in an interesting new chapter in his life. By erasing everyone’s memory, no one knows who Peter Parker is. However, many wondered if physical targets, such as photos, were also removed. Thus, the writers of this tape have finally offered an answer on the matter.
Through an interview with IGN, Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, the writers, were questioned about the physical evidence that points to the existence of Peter Parker, which conflicts with the spell that Dr. Stranger performed at the end of the tape. This was what McKenna commented on it:
“We talk about it a lot… and we can’t divulge much, but I just know we talked about it a lot and there were conversations about it. And I will say that answering those questions at the end of the movie, it would be almost too much to have to explain that in this movie. So I hope it’s one of those details that would have been a bridge too far for us to have to explain in this movie. But we have thoughts and answers.
Trust me, we have answers for that… but I don’t think we’re… We’re not allowed to divulge that. But we have answers.”
For his part, this is what Sommers mentioned:
“We deliberated a lot…is it going to be something like Back to the Future? Or are people going to disappear from the photos? Will physical objects disappear? All of these things. And as Chris said, ultimately we decided that it would take a lot of time and space in the movie to explain all of that. It would just detract from the thrill of it.”
The writers say they know how this conflict has a clear solution, but they decided not to show it on screen, as it would detract from the emotional ending we saw. However, hope this gets an answer in a future Spider-Man movie. Hopefully we’ll see at least one comment during Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
On related topics, Andrew Garfield has revealed the reason why he would not play Spider-Man again. Similarly, the digital premiere of this tape has been delayed.
