Waiting for the first ‘collective’ pre-season tests that will start on Wednesday and will last until Friday, the McLaren has already begun to become familiar with the asphalt in Barcelona today. In fact, the British team put the brand new MCL36 on track for the first time this afternoon. A brief shakedown documented by the team’s social channels, in the presence of both drivers and obviously the team principal Anderas Seidl. The papaya-colored car, which sported a rather ‘naked’ livery and without many sponsors, particularly on the sides, was first brought to the track by Lando Norris.
The steering wheel then passed subsequently also into the hands of Daniel Ricciardo, so as to allow both pilots to gain a first familiarity with the vehicle, after the long work done by both of them on the simulator in the past months. Fresh from fourth place in the constructors’ standings at the end of last season, the ambition of the Woking team would be to keep that position and possibly get even closer to the Mercedes-Red Bull-Ferrari trio in the course of 2022. The Spanish tests will be only the first. of the season. In fact, in mid-March the Circus will meet in Bahrain for the second session, just before the first GP of the year.
