The Emirates Red Crescent Authority continued its relief operations to reduce the repercussions of the drought disaster in Somalia, and expanded the scope of its humanitarian programs to include more than one million displaced and affected people, in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership, and with the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, Chairman of the Authority. . The Authority has completed its arrangements to move an aid ship from the UAE to Mogadishu, carrying hundreds of tons of food and other relief supplies to support its current efforts to alleviate the suffering of the affected people and improve their current conditions.
The Authority’s relief team, which is currently on the Somali scene, distributed more humanitarian aid to the displaced and affected by the repercussions of the drought that struck Somalia, which included large quantities of food and nutritional supplements for children. In another aspect, the delegation completed its arrangements to provide water through large tanks for the displaced in five areas considered the most affected by the drought disaster. Relief and humanitarian aid convoys to Somali camps are run daily as part of a plan developed by the “Terminal” team to provide the basic needs of the displaced and affected. Relief operations for the displaced continue, amid expectations that the suffering of the displaced will worsen and their numbers will increase due to the widening drought in Somalia and its spread to other areas that until recently were outside the scope of the disaster.
The UAE Red Crescent delegation is moving in several directions to reduce the aggravation of the suffering of those affected by drought conditions, and to strengthen the means of humanitarian response to ward off the dangers facing them. To improve comprehensive care, especially for women, children, and vulnerable groups.

He said: “The Authority” will spare no effort to provide everything that would limit the repercussions of the catastrophic events in Somalia on the lives of ordinary people, based on its humanitarian responsibility towards the victims of such natural disasters.
