Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai are ready to start the 2022 season with the new Hyundai i20 N Rally2. The reigning Italian rally champion crew has chosen to become part of the Friulmotor program, the historic customer team of Hyundai Motorsport.
Basso will compete in the Absolute Italian Rally Championship, seven stages entirely on asphalt, starting with number one on the sides.
The program will have the direct support of Pirelli and Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing, which will continue to support the De Cecco family team also with its engineers on the racing fields, the Treviso champion will soon get behind the wheel of the new car built by the department. Alzenau races, expected in Italy in the next few days.

The recent Hyundai i20 N Rally2 was brought to its debut in Italy in 2021 by Friulmotor, winning the Friuli Venezia Giulia Rally. After a first contact to get to know the team, Basso will carry out a series of tests while waiting to show up at the starting line of the Il Ciocco and Valle del Serchio Rally, the first weekend of March.
Basso, 48 years old from Montebelluna (TV), boasts an important sporting career, which has led him to obtain numerous international victories with various official manufacturers.
Among the various titles, four Absolute Italian Championships, two European Rally Championships, two Tour European Rally and an Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
The driver from Treviso won the 2017 European Rally Tour with the Hyundai i20 R5 managed by BRC, winning the success at the “La Grande Sfida” event at Automotoracing 2019.
