After spending two years in Formula 3, with Trident and Prema, Olli Caldwell is preparing for his debut in Formula 2. The English driver, in fact, was announced today by Campos Racing who has thus completed his training with the already co-dermatissimo. Ralph Boschung.
Furthermore, for Caldwell, this is not the only novelty. In fact, the Briton was announced as a new purchase of the Alpine Academy together with Jack Doohan.
The very entry of the Australian aroused amazement. Until last year Doohan had been supported by the Red Bull Academy, but he preferred to give in to the flattery of the French company which saw considerable potential in the son of art.
Doohan, in fact, shed light last season in Formula 3 by becoming Dennis Hauger’s main rival for the title. At the end of the championship he then made his debut in Formula 2 with MP Motorsport, touching pole position in the Abu Dhabi round.

Thanks to this choice, the Alpine nursery will be able to count on two drivers present in F2, Doohan and Caldwell precisely, and two present in Formula 3, the confirmed Victor Martins and Caio Collet.
“The Alpine Academy remains an extremely valuable part of what we want to achieve in Formula 1,” said House CEO Laurent Rossi. “We are eager to find the next generation of F1 drivers and it is exciting to see the growing strength of the program since it started in 2016”.
