The Syrian Basketball Federation took a surprising decision to apologize for not participating in the 24th Arab Men’s Basketball Championship, which will be hosted by the UAE during the period from 8 to 16 this month, that is, three days before the start of the event.
The decision of the apology stated that the Syrian national team has qualifiers for the World Cup, where it will face Bahrain and Iran on February 24 and 27, and that it is obliged to complete preparations for those qualifiers, and the Arab Federation intensified its contacts during the past hours with its Syrian counterpart to discourage it from its decision, in order to ensure the presence of all Arab teams And that the presence of the Syrian team will provide it with all the favorable conditions for friction and preparation for the World Cup qualifiers, but the attempts were not successful after the Syrian Federation adhered to its decision, and accordingly the Arab Federation will impose appropriate sanctions on the Syrian Federation during the meeting to be held in Dubai on February 16, i.e. The morning of the final day of the tournament.
With the withdrawal of Syria, the final number of participants will be 8 teams: the UAE, the organizing country, Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Somalia. Al Nasr Club.
