On the International Day of Human Fraternity, United States President Joe Biden issued a statement urging all peoples to work together, transcend all divisions and cooperate among themselves to overcome global challenges, including the novel coronavirus pandemic and the climate change crisis, in order to “build a better world that respects universal human rights, extending a helping hand to every human being, and promoting security and peace for all people.”
In his statement, President Biden said: “The challenges we see today, such as the continuing threat of the emerging (Corona) virus pandemic, the existential crisis of climate change, and the rise in violence around the world, make cooperation a major demand among people of all backgrounds, cultures, creeds, and religions. These challenges also require us to talk to each other in an open dialogue, and to promote the values of tolerance, inclusion and understanding among us.
President Biden continued, “Throughout my life, faith has been to me a beacon of hope and an invitation to strive toward purpose even in the darkest and darkest of days. And this is what the International Day of Human Fraternity embodies.” He added: “On this day, we reaffirm – by words and deed – the human values that unite us all… Together we have a real opportunity to build a better world that respects universal human rights, extends a helping hand to every human being and advances security and peace for all people.” People around the world celebrate, Including religious leaders and global personalities, on the International Day of Human Fraternity in its second edition, which coincides with the third anniversary of the signing of His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, the historic human fraternity document in Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2019.
