And so out of nowhere, Yacht Club Games, indie studio responsible for the acclaimed Shovel KnightHas revealed The Hollower Mine, his next big project. The news definitely caught us off guard, especially since a ton of details about the project have been released, including a first look at its gameplay.
The project already has its page in kickstarter and you can donate from $10 dollars, up to $3 thousand dollars. According to its developers, they plan to launch it in December 2023, but this date could change depending on how far its development progresses. Then we leave you with the official synopsis of Mine the Hollower:
“Mina the Hollower is a bone-chilling action-adventure with classic gameplay and 8-bit Game Boy Color aesthetics, refined for the modern age. 60fps action combat, a world full of mystery and horror, and top-down adventures combine in a mix that may remind you of classic titles like Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, or even Bloodborne. Pummel enemies, dig through the ground, and explore a pixel-perfect world in Mina the Hollower, a new game from the developers who brought you Shovel Knight.”
So as you can see, the game is still at a relatively early stage of development, but at least we already know exactly what this new proposal is about. There are still many things to define, but the project certainly looks promising.
Publisher’s note: Shovel Knight is one of the best indie games out there, so I fully trust Yacht Club Games regarding this new proposal. Perhaps the news is a bit disappointing for those who were waiting for Shovel Knight 2, but I think that game should also be part of their future plans.
