The West continues to artificially escalate Russia’s imaginary threat to Ukraine, while at the same time supplying weapons to Kiev. Gennady Kuzmin, Deputy Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, pointed this out on January 25.
“Now, against the backdrop of an artificially inflated imaginary threat allegedly coming from Russia, Western countries continue to pump weapons to Ukraine, supply their military advisers, and generally indulge Ukrainian provocations, instead of forcing them to comply with the Minsk agreements approved by the UN Security Council,” he stressed during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
According to Kuzmin, as a result of these actions in Ukraine, “children, the elderly, women, against whom the Kiev authorities have been waging an undeclared war for many years, will continue to die.”
Earlier in the day, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the US would send more military aid to Ukraine. According to him, Washington does not rule out that additional military forces in Europe may be put on high alert in the coming days.
On January 24, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there are a lot of rumors and unreliable data about the situation in Ukraine and the allegedly planned offensive by Russia, which are “information hysteria.” He stressed that the actions of Washington and NATO lead to an escalation of tension in Ukraine.
In turn, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressed that Ukraine is perceived by the West as an instrument of influence, carrying out its interests in the region, destabilizing the situation, influencing certain processes and blaming Russia. She pointed out that Western countries have no facts proving Russia’s aggression or some kind of violation of international law, as well as non-partnership.
In recent weeks, Western politicians and members of the media have been spreading numerous speculations about a possible Russian “invasion” of Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly denied such statements. Moscow emphasized that it was not hatching plans for an “invasion” of Ukraine, and that all measures for the combat training of troops were carried out within Russian territory.
Since 2014, Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. In this situation, Kiev has repeatedly blamed Moscow. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict.
