Mandalika was the scene of Chaz Davies’ last dance, which ended his career at the end of the 2021 season, in which he is remembered for several exploits and for having been a cornerstone of the official Ducati team. However, the Welshman seems unable to stay too far from the Superbike paddock and the well-deserved rest could turn into a new role in the world championship.
In fact, two weeks before the end of the 2021 season, rumors had begun to circulate that Davies was back in BMW. With the house from Monaco, the Briton had raced in Superbike in 2013, finishing fifth in the overall standings after three wins and as many podiums. These rumors continue to be persistent and, although none of the parties have spoken, everything suggests that Chaz may be in the BMW garage in 2022 as the coach of Scott Redding and Michael van der Mark.
It’s no secret Redding’s esteem for Davies. The Briton, who will start his new adventure in BMW after two seasons in Ducati in 2022, has made no secret of wanting him by his side as a coach and has clearly expressed this desire. Davies himself has expressed his intention not to leave the paddock for too long: “This has been my world for 27 years. It is not easy to get involved in something completely different. I love sports and I like everything. I am a fan as much as I am a pilot. I would like to be in the racing world again ”.
However, at the moment Chaz Davies is thinking about enjoying the rest after a complicated but certainly very intense season: “At the moment I have no concrete plans, my future is completely open. I want to enjoy Christmas and take some time. I don’t want to think about the next test or the next race or the next training. Instead, I want to enjoy time at home with the family ”.
