Formula 1 car organizers announced today, Thursday, that Abu Dhabi will continue to participate in hosting Formula 1 races until 2030, before the Grand Prix in the UAE capital next Sunday, at the conclusion of the world championship competitions this season.
It is expected that the Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi will witness a fierce competition between Max Verstappen, driver of Red Bull, and Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes driver, as they share the lead in the drivers’ category, and thus the UAE race will decide the world championship title.
Abu Dhabi has been co-hosting Formula 1 races since 2009.
The World Championship title was won in Abu Dhabi in 2010 for Sebastian Vettel, 2014 for Hamilton and 2016 for Rosberg.
Neither the Formula 1 administration nor the Abu Dhabi race administration announced details of the terms of the new contract.
