Five teams of workers began this Wednesday to hang the 350 arches, in addition to other decorative elements, which will populate the streets of the urban area during the next festivities
After an intensive day for the operators, and also made difficult by the strong wind, the Gran Vía de Murcia has already placed all the lighting typical of Christmas since this Wednesday afternoon: 27 arches of 16 meters with about 13,000 LEDs in shades of gold and white, in line with the 10 arches that will be installed on Avenida de la Constitución.
Five teams of workers have begun this Wednesday to hang the 350 arches, in addition to other decorative elements, which will populate the streets of the urban area during the next festivities. The lighting will be carried out in sections, according to the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Contracting, Mario Gómez, after days of controversy over the assembly calendar of the capital of the Region, later than in the rest of the large cities of the country.
The works began, according to municipal sources, after the Legal Services of the Murcia City Council dismissed the objections raised by the PP to the signing of the great extraordinary lighting contract promoted by Gómez, considering that this represented a significant damage to the coffers public. Beyond the prices, the benefits in terms of agility that having this commission already closed by Christmas 2022 will offer have forced us to go through the toll of the heaviness of its start-up beforehand. “You are the ‘Grinch'”, the Municipal Group of Vox came to tell Gómez during the Plenary of Budgets held yesterday.
In addition to the Gran Vía, there will also be four dozen other streets, avenues and squares of the urban area, as well as the Old Bridge. In addition, different fountains, such as those in the Plaza de los Apóstoles and the Plaza de Las Flores, will be covered with special 10,000 led models. Also in different locations, such as Plaza de Santo Domingo and Avenida de la Libertad, luminous cones and ‘photocalls’ will be installed.
