The Surne Bilbao Basket-Río Breogán, which was to be played this Sunday at 8:00 p.m., has been suspended due to the impossibility of correcting the existing technical problems for the display of one of the 24 “possession clocks. The sole judge of the competition will decide when this match corresponding to matchday 12 of the Endesa League will finally be played. Different solutions were sought to avoid postponement: The clock was changed, but smoke came out of the new one and the placement of a floor one was considered.
It is the second game this season that Rio cannot play. The previous one was against Joventut because of an outbreak of COVID in the Galician team. This will be played on December 30.
The suspension is a jug of cold water for the 500 Breogán fans who had traveled to Bilbao to enjoy his team. There was a general whistle of the nearly 7,000 fans who had come to Miribilla.
It is not the first time that the clock has caused problems this season in the Basque pavilion and not in the ACB: the Hereda San Pablo Burgos-MoraBanc Andorra on matchday 4 was delayed by almost an hour due to a similar situation.
El Breogán already suffered a similar scenario on September 30, 2018 against Joventut. The duel between the two had to be postponed due to the impossibility of correcting the technical problems with the scoreboard, the clock and the possession clock.
