Former athletics director Lamine Diack was 88 when he died.
Senegalese Former Chairman of the IAAF Lamine Diack has died at the age of 88, according to Reuters.
Diack died at his home in Senegal. In 2020, he was sentenced to four years in prison and fined half a million euros for corruption in doping cases involving Russian athletes.
Diack chaired the IAAF from 1999 to 2015.
Parisian the court found the Diack-led faction either to conceal positive doping test results or delay penalties against money. The incident involved 23 Russian athletes, and millions of dollars were paid for the cover-up.
Despite the verdict, Diack was not imprisoned. He was placed under house arrest, from which he was later released on bail.
