The Italian is once again linked to the Mattighofen manufacturer, with whom he worked in the past in both 125cc and 250cc, before joining Pramac in 2012, where he played a key role in the growth of the Ducati satellite structure, with which he a very strong bond.
Before signing with KTM, Guidotti also considered other alternatives, such as Suzuki, which is still trying to fill the void left by Davide Brivio’s farewell at the end of 2020, when he decided to leave the MotoGP paddock to join Formula 1 with Alpine.
“I was team manager for KTM between 2006 and 2009 and then I gained valuable experience in another category before returning to MotoGP: now I can complete the circle”, said Guidotti in the statement released by the Austrian brand.
“KTM has always been ambitious and hungry with its racing programs and we can see that in MotoGP it is no different. It is incredible what they have achieved in such a short time, but there is still so much to do. be back and be part of this new drive for success, “he added.
Then it was the turn of Pit Beirer, director of KTM Motorsport, to welcome the Italian manager.
“It’s a pleasure to have Francesco back here with us. He knows our culture and KTM way of racing. We wanted to renew the management structure of MotoGP and we believe that his input and ideas will give us a new opening for racing. our sixth season on the grid, ”Beirer said.
“With people like Francesco, Fabiano Sterlacchini, Hervé Poncharal, Jens Heinbach and Aki Ajo, we know we have the best leaders to help us progress and achieve important MotoGP milestones for the company,” said the former motocross rider.
Guidotti’s arrival is part of a restructuring underway at the Mattighofen company and above all in the MotoGP department, which ran aground in the final part of the season, despite the victories of Miguel Oliveira in Barcelona and Brad Binder in Austria.
In 2020, KTM had closed the year with three wins and fourth place in the constructors’ standings, so in 2021 it was unable to match the same results.
