The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star, Argentine Lionel Messi, was crowned in Paris with the Ballon d’Or award for the best soccer player in the world, awarded by the French magazine France Football.
This is the seventh time that Messi has won the award, beating Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea international Jorginho, thanks to his victory with his country in the Copa America this summer.
Karim Benzema, Real Madrid’s player, ranked fourth, and his compatriot Kante, a Chelsea player, ranked fifth, while Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s player, came seventh, and was preceded by Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United’s.
