Allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok in an interview with radio Sputnik said that in the Russian Federation, the number of asymptomatic carriers of coronavirus has significantly decreased during the last wave of infection.
The specialist noted that this strain of COVID-19 in Russia is not only transmitted faster from person to person. Moreover, it spreads faster from cell to cell inside a person. Therefore, the doctor explained, the immune system does not have time to ward off the infection, and more people experience symptoms.
In addition, against the background of the selfishness of some Russians, statistics take into account far from all cases of COVID-19, the immunologist said. So, some asymptomatic carriers of coronavirus do not go to medical institutions, continue to lead an active lifestyle, spreading the infection.
The doctor also believes that people who were previously convinced that they get sick with COVID-19 easily do not go to doctors if they feel unwell. In his opinion, this category of patients does not want to wait for a doctor to receive a prescription for self-isolation, and so on.
Bolibok believes that the asymptomatic course of the coronavirus is the least dangerous option for the infected. At the same time, vaccination increases a person’s chances of such a development of events, and most importantly – sharply reduces the risk of infection.
According to the infectious disease doctor Yevgeny Timakov, the asymptomatic course of the coronavirus can be recognized by a number of signs. Symptoms may include sore throat in the morning, mild runny nose, sneezing, and fatigue. According to the specialist, there is no asymptomatic coronavirus, there are only unrecognized symptoms.
Timakov noted that in order to identify the infection on our own, it is necessary to compare the symptoms that appear with the usual state. It is important to determine how bad your throat is or how much your nose is congested.
An asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 is not a super-distributor of infection, it is dangerous only with close contact, Timakov said. “At first, a person’s disease may be asymptomatic and low-symptom, and in a week the patient may be hospitalized in a serious condition,” he stressed.
Earlier in November, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova warned that Russians would not be able to avoid a new rise in the incidence of coronavirus. However, in her opinion, other states have managed to prevent the rise in the incidence of coronavirus.
Golikova noted that now the level of herd immunity in Russia is 50.4 percent.

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that in Russia, 0.74 percent of Russians who have recovered from COVID-19 have contracted the coronavirus again. These data make up the proportion of the total number of people who have had the disease in the country.
The delta strain of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is one of the strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the causative agent of COVID-19, belonging to the B.1.617 generation line. First discovered and described in India on June 14, 2021. In October 2021, tracking the evolution of the delta strain, British virologists discovered a new strain, AY.4.2, which is more contagious than previous strains.
