A 44-year-old employee of an institution in Maastricht has been detained for allegedly organizing and filming fights between young people. The Public Prosecution Service confirmed this on Friday. The man worked for the Trajekt welfare company and remains in prison for 90 days. According to justice, the fights between the vulnerable young people were recorded.
1Limburg reports that it concerns Sjef Z.. He is said to have instructed the young people about their role in the fighting. For example, some played a victim who had to be mistreated. Other times, someone was incited to provoke others in order to provoke a fight. Although the fighting was staged, real violence was used.
Fight Club
Z. would have been inspired by the American film Fight Club, which revolves around illegal underground fighting. He told the youth that they were going to make a new film with the welfare organization; previously Z. was also involved in a film production. He was arrested in early October and will be detained for the next 90 days. An investigation is also underway against the young people.
In a response to NRC Trajekt states that it will not file a report pending the results of the investigation by the judicial authorities. 140 employees and 700 volunteers are active at the welfare organisation. They organize, among other things, parenting training and budget courses, they also set up neighborhood projects and guide vulnerable young people.
