Russian doctors performed another operation to remove a birthmark from the face of American Luna Fenner. Told about it TASS in the Krasnodar clinic of laser photodynamic therapy.
“A skin transplant was performed on the frontal part and on the eyelids under both eyes,” said the director of the clinic, Andrei Aleksutkin, noting that the healing process will take several weeks. The moon is currently at home. Presumably, this was the last operation to remove the nevus. At the same time, the doctor emphasized that only after healing will it become clear whether additional medical procedures are required.
The oncologists performed the first operation in October 2019, when the girl was six months old.
Luna Fenner has been nicknamed “The Batman Masked Girl” because of her rare birthmark on her face – a giant congenital melanocytic nevus. It occurs in one in 20,000 newborns and over time can develop into an aggressive form of skin cancer. Doctors from the United States did not take up the treatment of the patient. To cover the cost of the baby’s treatment, the parents launched a fundraiser on the GoFundMe crowdfunding platform.
