José Mourinho continues to have a important cache despite the fact that his last years as a coach are far from the level that made him one of the best in the world. The Portuguese, now in Roma, seems to have found a project in which he is happy and has his team in Champions positions.
This has made Mourinho one of the candidates that Newcastle’s new management has contacted to replace Steve Bruce. The English coach was dismissed this Wednesday and the ‘magpies’ are looking for a coach that can lift the situation of a team that is second to last in the Premier and that still does not know victory this season.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Mourinho spoke about this interest of the ‘magpies’. “Newcastle? I have decided to stay. I’m not leaving. I have signed for three years for this project with Roma and I will not abandon my players“said the Portuguese, who is committed to his current project in the Italian capital.
Mourinho is already out of the list, and others like Conte, Rodgers, Benítez or Zidane have also rejected the proposal, so the name of the candidates does not stop changing as the days go by. One of them is precisely a former Roma player, Paulo Fonseca, although it is Lucien Favre who seems to be taking the lead.
