The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed the start of the final stage of consideration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. This was reported by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), reported in Twitter– drug account.
“WHO has confirmed that the approval process for Sputnik V is ongoing and is entering its final stages,” it says. It is noted that a group of inspectors of the organization is to visit Russia soon to collect the necessary data on the vaccine.
Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, said that Sputnik V could receive permanent registration in Russia in a few weeks. According to him, the experts will consider the documents; for ordinary citizens, the procedure does not entail significant changes.
Currently “Sputnik V” is registered in 70 countries, the total population of which is about 4 billion people. The drug is manufactured by more than 20 companies in 14 countries around the world. In Russia, the vaccine efficiency of the Gamaleya Center was 97.6 percent. The drug was 83.1 percent effective against the delta strain.
