Green Pass, protests by dockers from Trieste to Genoa but the activity proceeds in reduced ranks
After the great wait, fear was high on the eve of a widespread blockade in all Italian ports and the related serious repercussions on supplies and traffic along the country’s ports, the symbol port, core of the irreducible members of the Trieste Port Workers’ Coordination – on the day of the entry into force of the obligation of green certification for public and private workers – it continues its activity.
Zeno D’Agostino, president of the port activity, to the newspapers at the entrance to the port of Molo 7 in Trieste said: “The port works even if in reduced ranks”. Furthermore, the first cruise ship is expected today at the Porto Vecchio. And at the same Pier 7 a ferry from Turkey is unloading.
Confirmation also comes from the governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia and president of the Conference of the Regions, Massimiliano Fedriga: “The port works: obviously in some passages there will be difficulties and reduced ranks, but it works. I asked to keep the temperature low, avoiding frontal clashes in order not to damage the economy of a country, since it would damage the activity of the port of Trieste it means damaging a large number of companies that work in the related industries “.
Trieste is the seventh port in Europe for total handling of goods and the first in Italy with 62 million tons. The CLPT, a basic union that represents a third of the 950 employees of the airport, registers about 40% of the 950 workers without the Pass.

A coordination delegation would also like to block the San Benigno gate. At the Psa di Pra ‘terminal, the main port of the port, the activity is regular, even if the employees continue the strike for the second level contract with the abstention from work for one hour at the beginning and end of the shift and the no green passes they have implemented a garrison. The workers have presented a formal warning to the company not to apply the green certificate legislation. Bari and Brindisi
There are no inconveniences even in the Apulian ports of Bari, Brindisi, Barletta, Monopoli and Manfredonia. LaPresse learns this from the presidency of the Port System Authority of the southern Adriatic Sea which will monitor the situation throughout the day, the first day of the compulsory Green Pass.
Ancona
A demonstration by construction site workers on the Green Pass together with a truck in transit that stopped, instead blocked the northern access to the port area of Ancona: in sit-in about 200 workers from different companies and there is also the vehicle heavy stationary on the roadway at the Crn. For this reason, the traffic police have closed access to the ‘by pass’ that leads from the state road to the port area: long lines of cars have formed along the Flaminia and of cars and heavy vehicles along the by-pass ramp.
Bolzano
A No Pass sit-in is underway in Piazza Tribunale in Bolzano. About 200 people gathered to demonstrate, without signs and without slogans, in silence against the entry into force of the obligation of the Green pass in the workplace. The sit-in was organized by the active parents movement with the slogan ‘No one has the right to obey’. The famous phrase of Hannah Arendt was posted a few years ago above the monument of Mussolini on horseback right in Piazza Tribunale to ‘weaken’ the monument.
Sardinia
Regular operations also in the main Sardinian ports. No problems were reported in the sea ports of Cagliari, Olbia, Porto Torres and Golfo Aranci on the first day of compulsory Green Pass. The Port Authority of the Sardinian Sea confirms this to the AGI. Virtually 100% of the operators were vaccinated and no trade union unrest was announced. The ships therefore left and arrived regularly and boarding and disembarking operations did not slow down.
Sigonella base
A sit-in against “the green payment certificate” was also held in front of the gates of the Italian Air Force base in Sigonella. The garrison, which was attended by a few dozen demonstrators, was promoted by the Air Force Union (Siam), and took place from 7 to 7.25. The peaceful protest, explains Alfio Messina of Siam, concerns “the freedom to freely enter the workplace without having to put one’s hand in one’s wallet and to be able to take advantage of free tampons, guaranteed by the state”. This is the first historical time that Siam takes to the streets with its members with a peaceful garrison to invoke the freedom to freely enter the workplace without having to put their wallet and to be able to take advantage of free tampons that should be guaranteed, if anything. , by the State, as well as guarantees the vaccine to those who want it. This was stated by the secretary of the section of Sigonella and national manager of the union, Alfio Messina. The general secretary of Siam, Paolo Melis, adds in a note: “There is no legal obligation to impose the vaccine on the military, therefore the tampons must be free in the interest of the administration itself, which must guarantee essential services for the State and essential levels of operation. We are convinced that as long as the government or Parliament does not intervene with a specific provision that requires the vaccine, there can be no restrictive measures to the right to work, as is the Green pass ” . For this reason, says the union, “Siam takes to the streets alongside workers to protect the right to work without blackmail”.
Trento
In Trento, 500 people gathered in Piazza Dante in front of the Palazzo della Provincia whose main entrance is cordoned off and manned by the police, to demonstrate against the entry into force of the mandatory Green Pass for public and private workers. The protest committee announces that the march could take different directions to carry out sit-ins even in front of other institutional venues. The presence of law enforcement agencies is strong.
There are “over six thousand and constantly increasing” the people present at the no green pass event in front of the port of Trieste. This was reported by the prefect of Trieste Valerio Valenti who reiterated that the promoters will be denounced because it is an “illegitimate” strike
Savona
No discomfort in Savona. Despite the fears of the eve, at the moment there are no critical issues: in port operations proceed as usual, without protests or abstention, the bus service is currently guaranteed without repercussions while in pharmacies the number of requests for tampons has increased considerably but the volume of people remains largely manageable by those who have organized themselves to provide the service. Even the protest in front of the Prefecture showed below expected numbers: if more than 500 people participated in the march on Monday, today in the square there were less than 100 workers to gather. The only unknown factor remains waste collection, with the town holding company having 30% of unvaccinated employees: within the day we will see if this will have repercussions on the service.
