A meteorite smashed through the roof of a resident of the Canadian city of Golden, British Columbia, and fell on a pillow next to her. About it informs Castlegar News edition.
On the night of October 4, Ruth Hamilton slept at home. Suddenly, the Canadian was awakened by the sound of a blow, and debris fell on her. “I jumped up and turned on the light. I couldn’t understand what happened, ”she said. When Hamilton finally woke up, she noticed a stone lying on her pillow next to where her head had just been. The woman did not understand how the stone got on her bed and called the police.
A police officer arrived at the scene and called a nearby construction site to see if they had any explosions. They assured that nothing of the kind happened, but noted that they saw a luminous object in the sky, which flew for some time, and then exploded into several fragments. It turned out that the roof of the Hamilton house was broken by a meteorite.
The woman admitted that the incident greatly scared her. “I thought someone broke into my house, or it was a shot. Realizing that it was a meteorite that fell from the sky, I was relieved, ”she said.
The Canadian has not received any injuries and is feeling fine. She plans to keep the stone for herself, as it interested her grandchildren. “It’s amazing that this stone fell from the sky. It may be billions of years old, ”said Hamilton.
According to the woman, the experience made her rethink a lot: “The only thing I can think about is that life is precious and can end at any moment, even when it seems to you that you are safe and sleep in your bed. I hope I never take life for granted again. “
The insurance company is now investigating whether a woman is entitled to compensation for damage to the roof caused by an object falling from space. Representatives of the company have not yet encountered such insured events.
Earlier it was reported that a meteorite fell in the garden of an elderly resident of the Thai city of Buriram. The gleaming black stone had a diameter of five centimeters and a weight of 500 grams. The man claims that from the moment the meteorite fell, he has had pleasant dreams.
