The Governing Council of the Government of Extremadura has authorized this Monday, December 2, the call for subsidies intended to finance the employment training programs that have been declared of strategic interestunder decree 121/2021 of October 20, for the fiscal year 2025, with an amount of 4.9 million euros.
They must be developed by the owner companies of the projects recognized for their interest in employment, and the program will cover “up to one hundred percent of training expenses”, as explained at a press conference after the Autonomous Government Council this Monday in Mérida by the spokesperson for the Board, Victoria Bazaga.
Thus, since the first call in 2023, a total of 18 companies have achieved the qualification of strategic projects, and 876 students have received specialized training.
According to Bazaga, the objective of the initiative is to promote projects with a “significant impact” on employment, with special attention to that promote an ecological transition, a green economy and digitalization in services.
Specifically, by decree 121/2021, of October 20, the procedure for the strategic declaration of training for employment is regulated and the forms for its financing are established.
This decree allows interested companies and entities to develop and present business projects which describe the qualified and specialized training that needs to be offered to workers, whether unemployed or employed, and whose delivery is necessary for the development of said projects.
The type of training and training content offered must be adjusted to the specific demands and needs that these companies have, whether for the development and adaptation of their business purpose or for the start-up and implementation of new companies in the community.
This rating of strategic training It is configured as a prior premise so that, once obtained, the owners of business projects that are of special interest to the region due to their significant impact on employment can access financing for them.
Qualification projects
On the other hand, the Autonomous Government Council has authorized the call, corresponding to the financial year 2025, of subsidies provided for in line II of decree 155/2022, of December 21, intended to finance action projects for qualification training and requalification (reskilling/upskilling) of the active population in strategic sectors, the personal care sector and in areas at risk of depopulation, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, for an amount of 1.6 million euros, and in which more than 1,200 Extremadurans will participate.
Training entities that are accredited and/or registered in the family and professional area associated with the professional qualification to which the professional skills for which the training is offered may be beneficiaries of the subsidies established in this call.
From the budgeted amount, a credit of one million euros to finance training projects in strategic sectors and transversal areas, although at least 40 percent of this budget will aim to finance training actions in transversal areas referring to green skills and jobs.
In addition, a credit of 450,000 euros is allocated to finance training projects in the personal care sector; and 150,000 euros for training projects in areas at risk of depopulation. The training actions will contain a minimum of 30 hours in duration and a maximum of 60 hours.
