The direct red for the Argentine in Mlada Boleslav will leave him without participating in the next two games in the Conference
Giovanni Lo Celso will be sanctioned with a two-match suspension by UEFA after the direct red card he saw in the last minutes of the match between Mlada Boleslav and the Real Betis corresponding to the fourth day of the league phase of the Conference League. The Argentine player, in this way, will miss the Betis team’s next matches against Petrocub and HJK Helsinki with which the green and white team will close this sequence in which they are having problems as they are placed twenty-second with only four points out of twelve possible.
Lo Celso saw a direct red card after making a tackle as a result of impotence in the 89th minute of the duel against Mlada with the result of 2-1. He had seriously protested several of his decisions to referee Daniel Schlager and, frustrated by the Betic defeat, he made a foul from behind, hitting an opponent’s ankle and was sent off.
This circumstance automatically carries two suspension matches for UEFA, meaning the Argentine will not play against the Petrocub in Moldova next Thursday, December 12 and with the HJK Helsinki at the Villamarín on December 19.
The absence of Lo Celso joins for now the absences of Isco, Losada and Fran Vieites, who are not registered, in the Conference, as well as those of the injured William Carvalho, Mendy and Marc Roca, both long-term. Pellegrini will be attentive to the evolution of Bellerín, Fornals and Johnny Cardoso to see if they can be available for these continental meetings.
