Most teachers are not very aware of something that their students mostly know. Artificial intelligence (AI) will put an end to lectures in classrooms. What almost none of them know is that evaluation methods will also change, since they will most likely be largely automated. Will teachers become extinct? I don’t think so, but we will be changing our mission somewhat drastically before too long. I will explain it in summary.
Regarding teaching, it must be assumed that classes are, for the most part, an exposition of content. They can be more or less interactive, but in the end, as most students expect them and as most teachers also teach them, they are only a transmission of summaries about the main aspects of a subject, which students collect through his notes. This has usually been the case until now, with attempts at innovation by some teachers that have frequently failed for different reasons, the main one being the resistance of teachers and students to the changes. In the end, it is more comfortable to continue as always – even if it leads to disaster, as is the case – and human beings usually opt for what is most comfortable.
