The Spanish nautical market has registered a total of 4,734 registrations of pleasure boats from January to October 2024, which represents a drop of 16.1% compared to those registered in the same period of 2023, according to the ‘Market Report. recreational boats’, published by the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN).
This stabilizes the decline that has been occurring throughout the year, which especially affects the segment of lengths up to 6 meters and the folding inflatable and jet ski markets. Smaller boats, up to 6 meters, continue to show the largest drop in registrations (-18.9%) so far this year. The decrease is very pronounced (-39.5%) in the pneumatic segment.
On the positive side, the increase in registrations of boats larger than 16 meters is estimated at 16% until October.
In the rental market (nautical charter), 1,693 recreational boats have been registered for this use from January to October of this year compared to 2,003 in the same period of 2023. Of the total number of boats registered, 64.3% correspond to private use and 35.7% to the charter industry.
The drop in registrations in the period analyzed affects all the coastal autonomous communities with the greatest impact on the nautical market, except for exceptions such as Cantabria, where 25 more units have been registered; Valencia (+43) and Granada (+8).
In the charter market, registrations for rental use in Valencia show a positive performance, with 38 more registrations than in the same period in 2023, Cantabria (+13), Barcelona (+10) and Almería (+8).
