The Feroz 2025 Awards, which will be held in Pontevedra on January 25, finish confirming the success of House in flames with eight nominations. Dani de la Orden’s feature film is the favorite, followed by The next room, The red virgin and The sparkleswho accumulate six each. The series section is led by WantAlauda Ruiz de Azúa’s fiction about rape within marriage with seven nominations, followed by Sky bluewith five.
The awards given by the Association of Cinematographic Informants of Spain highlight the work for which Pedro Almodóvar made history by winning the Golden Lion at the last Venice Film Festival. Unlike the Forqué Awards – which forgot other more risky proposals such as Dust They Willthe musical about euthanasia by Carlos Marqués-Marcet or Hail MaryMar Coll’s horror film about motherhood – at the Feroz has six nominations.
The filmmaker from La Mancha shares a number of options with The red virginin which Paula Ortiz rescues the story of Hildegart, the ‘woman of the future’ that her mother molded and later murdered, led by Najwa Nimri, who is up for the Best Leading Actress award. He also accumulates six nominations The sparkles by Pilar Palomero, which adapts the story by Eider Rodríguez about a woman (Patricia López Arnáiz) who accompanies her ex-partner (Antonio de la Torre) in the last days of her life.
With four candidates they remain The blue star and Hail Mary; with three The 47, The house, Escape, The infiltrator and Dust will be; with two Frame; and with a Still life with ghosts, Looking for Coke, I’m Nevenka and You will return. Missing from the list is Sandra Romero’s first opera, Where the silence passeswhich hits theaters this week.
As for the series, the most bleeding absence is the of The lawyersRTVE’s historical memory exercise that follows the lives of Manuela Carmena, Cristina Almeida, Lola González and Paca Sauquillo, the labor lawyers who stood up to the Franco courts in a still dark Spain that was on the verge of the Transition. Those that have been highlighted, and four candidates each are distributed, are The new years by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, The Asunta case, See you in another life and I, addictthe autobiographical project of Javier Giner.
