Tomorrow’s Council of Ministers will approve a new aid package to support the regions affected by DANA on October 29. As the President of the Government announced today, there are 60 measures that include direct funds, credit instruments and legal facilities. In total, the cost will be 2,274 million euros.
Added to the two packages previously announced, the amount of aid from DANA already exceeds 16.6 billion euros, the equivalent of 1% of our country’s GDP (399,067 million euros in 2023). It must be clarified, as ABC already did when the second package was approved, that this sensational amount will be contributed mainly by the banks through the support of the Official Credit Institute (ICO) and the Insurance Compensation Consortium, which is nourished by the contributions of the insurers.
This third package, which is part of the Immediate Response, Reconstruction and Relaunch Plan, focuses on the renewal of vehicles, the expansion of aid to relatives of the deceased, benefits for cessation of activity for the self-employed and, again, guaranteed credits by the State.
10,000 euros to buy cars
For the renewal of the automobile fleet, the Executive has given the green light to a plan of 465 million euros, including direct non-refundable aid of up to 10,000 euros for the acquisition of vehicles.
These funds, it must be clarified, may be added to the compensation that the Insurance Compensation Consortium is already beginning to pay, and will be granted retroactively to all those affected who have made a purchase since October 29. In addition, to be beneficiaries of the aid, it will not be necessary for the vehicles purchased to be new.
1,200 million in credit to companies
Regarding the productive fabric, Sánchez has announced the activation of a new line of 1,200 million so that the self-employed and industrial and tourist companies can repair facilities, equipment and product stocks and make new investments.
At the same time, the Government will also activate a line of 240 million for the reactivation of local commerce, an ICEX line aimed at facilitating the internationalization of the activity of the affected companies and a line of subsidized loans for affected SMEs that wish to acquire technology and machinery. latest generation, for a total of 300 million euros.
The loans will be granted by the CDTI (an entity dependent on the Ministry of Science and Innovation) and the maximum per company has been set at six million euros.
Right to aid for relatives of the deceased
Another significant novelty that the third package will include will be the recognition of the right for people who did not live with a person who died due to DANA to obtain aid for death and for the reconstruction of their home.
Aid to the self-employed, due to disability and accident
Likewise, the exceptional consideration of a situation assimilated to a work accident in the processes of temporary disability and pensions for permanent disability, death and survival caused by DANA will be extended until December 31.
At the same time, The benefit for cessation of self-employed activity will be extended to all those who are covered by the so-called flat contribution rate; and a new regime will be approved for the activation of protocols in the event of disasters within companies that guarantees the participation of worker representatives.
