The Ombudsman of the PSPV in Les Corts, José Muñoz, has asked the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, to be “as fast in removing the mud from the streets and houses of Valencians who have lost everything as in raise the salaries of the members of his Government.”
This was stated in statements made available to the media after the Consell approved a decree law on extraordinary management, organization and mobility measures for public employees to provide an “immediate response” to the existing needs in the provision of public services. to the municipalities affected by DANA, which contemplates that The new directors will have remunerations that may exceed 15% more than the salary of the ‘president’ so as not to see your payroll reduced.
For Muñoz, it is “regrettable that the Consell de Mazón dedicates the slightest of its time to attacking the Government of Spain, which has been working on the emergency that we are experiencing in the Valencian Community since minute zero” and has demanded that “the demagoguery comes out of the Generalitat Valenciana where The only priority has to be to respond to the emergency“.
The socialist ombudsman has stressed that “instead of looking for culprits, Mazón has to get to work and exercise his powers and if this situation is too big for him, as he is demonstrating, it is time for him to take his things and leave the Palau de la Generalitat”.
Muñoz has reproached the PP for “taking advantage of this harsh reality to make hand-picked contracts to companies linked to PP corruption and now to raise the salaries of senior officials.”
“Demagoguery has to come from the Valencian Generalitat, where the only priority of all governments must be to respond to the emergency, something that unfortunately does not happen with the Consell of Carlos Mazón,” he concluded.
A “miserable” Government
On the other hand, Compromís has called the Consell “miserable” for “taking advantage of a DANA decree to raise their salary” and has reproached the PP for its “indecency” which, as he has assured, “has no limits.” “Just when you think they can’t be more miserable, they do,” he said.
The Ombudsman of Compromís in Les Corts Valencianes, Joan Baldoví, in a message on the social network ‘X’, has called the Consell “miserable” for “taking advantage of a decree from the dana to raise his salary.” “The indecency of the PP Council has no limits,” he lamented.
For her part, the spokesperson for Compromís in Congress, Àgueda Micó, has criticized the “shame” that “the lieutenant general -Francisco José Gan Pampols, second vice president of the Consell- who will not respond to politics does want the money of our taxpayers without political limits.
And the spokesperson for Compromís in the Valencia City Council, Papi Robles, has questioned whether in this way “the supposed reconstruction of Mazón will begin, helping senior officials in his government to raise their salaries. “He has no shame or dignity,” he stated.
From the coalition, in this same social network, they have criticized that the “first measure of the new Consell de Mazón” is to “raise the salary within a decree of aid for the dana.” “When you think they can’t be miserable, they get it,” they expressed, while demanding a motion of censure against Mazón “now.”
Contract with a Gürtel company
A few weeks ago, the Mazón Executive awarded the repair of the Buseo dam, seriously damaged after the passage of DANA, to the company Becsa, of which Gabriel Alberto Batalla Reigada is a shareholder, which He was convicted in the case of ‘box B’ of the Valencian PP of the Gürtel plot for crimes against the Public Treasury, electoral and falsification of commercial documents. The contract amounts to 4.7 million euros.
The spokesperson for the Consell, Susana Camarero, justified this urgent award because Becsa already had a previous contract at the dam and knew the facilities “perfectly”. As detailed, it was the Botànic Government that granted Becsa a contract worth around 500,000 euros in 2022 to carry out a series of works on the infrastructure. The document It is signed by the previous Minister of Agriculture, Isaura Navarro, on November 9 of that year.so since then the company had been carrying out “some work” on the dam.
It is for this reason, in the words of Mazón’s spokesperson, that the Generalitat awarded this work to Becsa. “This emergency contract, due to the immediacy it required, the organizational capacity and the availability, was given to the Becsa company to guarantee the safety and stability of the dam,” Susana Camarero indicated in this regard.

“Due to the events of the afternoon of October 29, due to the damage to the dam and the immediacy of the response, what has been done is to work with the same company because it already knew the facilities, I knew what were the works that had been carried out in recent times and knew the infrastructure,” he noted.
Likewise, PSPV and Compromís asked to have access to the files of the emergency contracts approved by the Generalitat since they flies over “the shadow of suspicion” and “a boss” on the part of the PP.
