The 240 kilos of cocaine seized on November 23 in a refrigerated truck that was circulating along the border of Caya, in Badajoz, could reach 26 million euros on the black market.
In the operation, the driver of the truck, a Spanish national, who did not have a valid driving license, and who had a record of driving under the influence of narcotic substances, was arrested.
This man was intercepted in the border with Portugal around 11:00 p.m. on November 22, when he was transporting 240 kilos of cocaine hidden in the trailer of a refrigerated vehicleand more than 80,000 euros in cash were also seized.
The details of this operation, which have not been ruled out, were announced this Tuesday at a press conference at the Extremadura Police Headquarters, in Badajoz, by the Government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana; the subdelegate in Badajoz, Maribel Cortés, and the senior chief of the National Police in Extremadura, Elisa Fariñas.
Also present were the regional head of Operations, Manuel Veiga; the head of the Provincial Brigade of the Badajoz Judicial Police, José María Gordillo, and the head of Badajoz Narcotics, Joaquín García, who has specified that this is one of the largest anti-drug operations in the region due to the amount seized.
